At a recent photo shoot with a precious young lady Harriet, we came upon the most adorable "seat" at a downtown Lafayette, LA, restaurant. Here, she and my daughter Britt try out the back seat of this little "car"... not sure what kind it was but it was adorable! This is just an example of going with what you're given as far as backdrops... we were just doing a walk-about, taking advantage of all the wrought iron, brightly painted walls and windows we came across, and having fun all along the way. Had a GREAT time plus got some awesome pics!

Fortunately with today’s technology, some experience, skill and an eye for artistry, much of that image can be recaptured for your family.

I am, first of all an artist and a photographer nearly all of my life. Restoring photos has been a natural progression to an extra service we can offer clients. Because we want you to be happy with the results, we will either email you the final image so that you can approve it before we print it, OR upload the restored photo files to my Shutterfly Professional account for your review. If you’d prefer, you / your family can view / order the prints and enlargements from there, if you’d like.

The price categories listed below will give you an idea of the typical costs you can expect for restoration services. Please keep in mind that it is impossible to accurately quote a photo restoration, photo retouching or photo archiving project without first seeing the condition of the original image. We will not proceed without first providing you with a quote and receiving confirmation as to what work you want done. Also, rest assured that we will never alter your original.

Estimates are provided free of charge. If you refuse the estimate, the only charge you incur will be the shipping and handling charges involved with returning the original photograph (see fixed charges below).

The Golden Time of Day

It seems to me that, on most days, the best lighting is saved 'til last.. no matter how tired you are from a long day at work, at play, it's always enjoyable to take a minute to enjoy that golden glow that often heralds the coming of dusk.

Looking at this picture of Cindie sitting on a park bench in a pool of woodsy ferns, it's easy to see why this is my VERY favorite time of the day to shoot. I love the way the sun outlines the arch of bamboo in the background, brushes the fern with gold and kisses her hair with honey.

The golden late afternoon lighting makes magic, and it's one of my favorite things I love about what I do.

Richarda's not only got a gorgeous face, but she's got game. She's got a sense of adventure and fun that enabled us to get some awesome photos for her shoot. Sometimes the best of backgrounds is right outside your front (or back door). These pics were shot just taking an "adventure walk" around the neighborhood. I used the "borrowed vistas" of neighbors whose wonderful old live oaks and architecture provided rich colors in the background. Very spontaneous and free.

Recently, a couple of friends each needed pictures, so we turned the session into a Girlfriend Photo Shoot. Sometimes the best shot is that one taken with the subjects unaware, cutting up as friends, showing their playful sides. Such was the case here.. and I loved it!

Your Senior Photo Session

My philosophy: if you can catch a people in the act of truly being themselves, you have true, sometimes raw, portraits of who they really are. That means, for me to do my best for you, we need to get acquainted and comfortable with each other.

Therefore, before we shoot, there are details I need to know about you, so when you call to book a photo session, don't be surprised if I ask you a lot of questions. For example: where do you go to school? What do you do for fun, and where do you like to hang out? Do you have any extra-curricular activities or hobbies? What you tell me in response to these questions will help me plan your portrait session.

First we'll address "What should I wear?" (I'll talk about this in a separate post). The next question is usually "Where should we go?" My favorite (and most popular) thing to do is what I call a "walkabout session." We pick a location and then go from there, walking from place to place, taking portraits along the way. Often we come across some really neat places, and the poses are more spontaneous. What results are some priceless images. I have some favorite locations, but I'm also open to hearing about any you might have. (Perhaps your own backyard would make a perfect background). If you want to choose more than one location (i.e., a place you have to drive to), that's fine, too. However, there is a $25 location fee for each additional location you choose; it's up to you how many locations we shoot in.

If you'd like to have someone come along with you, feel free to bring a friend or a brother/sister. It's often more fun to have someone come along to make you laugh and to help carry whatever gear/props you choose to bring. (Hey, what are friends for?!) I'm all about fun—we'll keep things relaxed and laid back.

About two weeks after your portrait session, we'll meet again to view your proofs. I'll start by showing you a slide show set to music, like you're starring in your own music video! After the slide show, you can view the proof sheet thumbnails. We'll explain the packages and answer any questions you might have.

If you place your order within 3 days of your viewing appointment, we'll take 10% off your print order (does not apply to albums or canvases). Your prints should be ready for you in about 2 weeks. As an added bonus to those who qualify for the Prompt Ordering Discount (above), you will receive free 5 SPECIAL web images for your MySpace and/or FaceBook.

Engagement / Pre-wedding / Wedding

Weddings are beautiful, momentous occasions, stressful for everyone concerned... for me, a photographer, it's stressful from the get-go since it's an A+ performance in a one-shot show! Therefore, I'll tell you up front, I don't do big weddings; I'll leave that to the big boys & girls. On VERY RARE occasions, if you are particularly fond of my style / work, with convincing and the promise that I won't be run out of town, I will do a SMALL wedding ...as long as the bride (and moms) can pass the test, "Are you a Bridezilla?" (smile/wink!)

However, I do love doing pre-wedding / engagement shots, etc. So put it this way, if you're convinced that my work will make you happy, we can work something out. :)

A peek behind the camera

Really, I'm a fairly straight-forward person-- I love my God, I adore my family and I'm passionate about life! I'm not exactly slow-moving, and "attention span" is not exactly my strength! Quite honestly, sometimes I'm like a little hummingbird, flitting from flower. But so what? That's why God made planners!

Personality-wise, I'm have a wicked, wacky sense of humor -- at times, irreverent and quite sarcastic. I absolutely LOVE to laugh, laugh until I cry, until I lose my breath...and sometimes I laugh when I shouldn't. If you're ever fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to be around when my sister and I are together, you'll see it gets absolutely wild ... we play off of one another until we're rolling on the floor. We say it cleanses the soul!

Over the years, I find that I am less inclined to suffer stupidity and a defeatist attitude. I am not fond of being told "NO!" or "I can't!" There's no such thing!!! (And yes, I've been called a pit bull --long before Sarah Palin came along with her lipstick!)

Like with most people, life has kicked me in the teeth a few times, but with God's grace, I've picked myself up, dusted myself off and frankly feel fortunate that I've emerged from the ashes, perhaps a bit singed around the edges but with a grin on my face, lop-sided as it might be at times.

Life? It's been QUITE a ride, and even with hard times, I've been so blessed. I have an AWESOME, irreplaceable husband, a beautiful family, and I'm determined the very best is yet to come!

Over the years, I've shot hundreds, if not thousands, of photos as part of my personal work. I'm captivated by the architecture in the French Quarter in New Orleans and enjoy seeking out visual treasures to record with my camera. Flowers and plants also are my favorite subjects.. up close and personal. In other words, I love COLOR and TEXTURE.

Many of these images, I have turned into paintings perfect for canvases or even watercolors. I'm like a mad woman... I just can't help myself! So many endless possibilities!!!
